| Lions Vision Screening at Local Schools |
| Our Vision Screening Program is off to a great start. Even though it is early in the Laveen Lions Club year, our volunteers have provided vision screening services for 818 students at Laveen Elementary School. And with three more schools to go, this could be a record breaking year for the Laveen Lions Club Eye Health Program. See the calendar for the vision screening schedule. |
Each year volunteers with the Laveen Lions Club Eye Health Program screen children in Laveen area schools for visual acuity, color deficiency, and stereopsis (muscle balance). More commonly known as near or far sighted, color blindness and crossed eyes. When vision difficulties are discovered, students are referred for further evaluation and treatment. |
|
Screening takes place at Cash, Cheatham, Laveen, and Vista Del Sur schools with about 1,500 students served in past years. Due to growth in our community, 2006 may be a record year with more than 2,000 students screened.
In addition, the Laveen Lions Club will join with LensCrafters Vision Centers to conduct free public vision screening at The South Mountain Festival of Thanksgiving to be held at El Reposa Park, November 4, 2006.
